Classic stone built house c.1725, is classic country Georgian in style and was originally named 'New Hall' . Great Hucklow is a small and quiet Peak District village of about 30 houses about 8 miles north of Bakewell.

In a nutshell - 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms recently refurbished and made suitable as holiday letting for groups up to 14 people.

Countryside location in the centre of the Derbyshire Peak District with the 'White Peak' to the south and 'Dark Peak' to the north, so you enjoy the very best of the scenery. The Old Manse is in a central Peak District location and sits astride the boundary of White Peak and Dark Peak areas, a perfect base for walking the national park routes. We have lived here for over 40 years so can give you local knowledge and tourist information on the Peak District.

Enjoy eating out in the private high walled and yew hedged garden with lawn, summer house and timber deck

You will be surrounded by magnificent Peak District countryside and share it with abundant wildlife, plants and birds. Obviously we are in easy reach of all the many Peak District attractions. .Whatever your age or interests, whether walking, (many routes from the door), fishing, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, sight seeing or simply enjoying peace and quiet, you will find this a perfect place to take a break.

Great Hucklow provides the ideal Peak District central base from which to visit the many varied attractions on offer. These include Bakewell market town and interesting shopping,  Buxton spa town and location of the internationally renowned and restored Buxton Opera House. The Hope Valley and scenic Derwent Dams are a short drive.

Nearby are the magnificent stately homes of Chatsworth House (Britain's finest stately home - residence of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire), Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall.

Families (with children of all ages) can enjoy visits to Castleton and the Blue John Caverns and Matlock Bath with its cable cars and Gullivers Kingdom.  Alton Towers theme park and the "American Adventure" are  less than 1½ hours drive.

The Derbyshire and Lancashire gliding club is just a few minutes away on top the hill, they give introductory lessons and flights at reasonable cost for those of you who might enjoy being up in the air!

If at the end of the day, you wish to eat out, there are many good and reasonably priced eating places within easy reach. The local 'Queen Anne' pub is just a short stagger from The Old Manse and has a good menu.

Whatever your interests you can be sure of a warm and comfortable stay every day of the year.
